Producer’s Note
The film project „22:43“ is a low-budget project independent from university, production companies and agents and was organised by Bild[er]folge – Verein zur Förderung von Filmkunst. It is meant to be an impulse for film making in Austria. The principal aim is to produce a top-notch film through the cooperation of an aspiring, young team and present it at both national and international festivals.
By the end of December 2008 the first draft of the script was finished – written by director and producer Markus Hautz. We were enthusiastic about the plot, the game of coincidence and time and the apparently hopeless situation of the protagonist. Against all odds we decided to finance the project privately knowing that it would be very expensive. However, we were and still are convinced of the project. We knew we had a good director and cameraman, who are also dedicated co-producers.
We persued two major goals. On the one hand we wanted to make a top-notch film and on the other hand we aimed at establishing a network of cooperation between cast and crew. We want to facilitate access to film making for young talents throughout Austria. This project is an excellent and unique chance. We have won over well known actors such as Martin Loos, Anton Nouri or Günther Panak, who have considerable acting experience. Our crew also comprises highly professional members such as Christine Ludwig (costume designer), Reinhard Kirnich (Make-up), Reinhold A. Fragner (Color Correction, Title Design), Martina R. Fröschl (VFX) und Michael Tuschek (Sound editing, Sound Design, Mixing).
We would like to point out the charitable character of our project. Instead of financial interests, dedication, creativity imaginativeness, unyielding willpower, proficiency and love for filmmaking were the only incentives for both the project management, the team and the actors. The prime aim was: producing a low-budget film, which does not appear like that to the average viewer. A film which betrays artistic value because the protagonist has a universal message: there is hope even in a hopeless situation and this keeps us alive.
